Hey everybody! Thanks for stopping by. It is so exciting to officially welcome and introduce Carstations. Thank you to all the drivers and early people involved who helped make this a reality.
From the days of freezing in the cold and rain trying to save the last of the EV’s to now manufacturers building cars and working with us on electric car stations(charging stations), it’s truly amazing we have arrived at this moment in history.
It is the beginning of a new era. We believe like the Iphone, PC and other trans-formative technologies the coming of the EV will forever change our transportation and energy future. We are realists and understand this will take a few years, but it’s inevitable. There are many uninformed critics out there who want to keep it just like it is. It reminds me of IBM asking why anyone would need a PC or others who questioned the same for the cell phone or Iphone. I am sure the buggy whip and horse carriage manufactures tried their own dead end rhetoric back then too. We’ll see what becomes reality over the next 10 years.
O.k. Great. Ev’s are cool and you’re thinking you might get one, but some visitors may be asking themselves why do you need something like CarStations? The simple fact is the status quo has and will radically change for “fueling” or charging your vehicle. The stations are in distributed and unique locations which is far different than the current system. Remember, anywhere there is electricity there is a chance for it to be an electric car station. There are ski resorts, hotels, business parks, parking lots, small business, big businesses, campgrounds and everything in between. Because of this distributed system, you need to rely on the power of the crowd to help add, update and maintain the information on these stations. Photos, comments and other detailed information are required if you going to find your charge. It’s exciting and requires a whole new system.
The best part of building this application is the crowd source information provided regularly by CarStations users. These passionate, intelligent and amazing people, (no, I am serious and not just blowing smoke) continually are out there updating and helping other drivers with the insightful and useful information. As the community grows we are going to add even more features and real world events to help everyone connect together and build up the most useful database of information possible.
There is so much more to talk about and we hope to continue the conversation on facebook, on this blog and from our newsletter for registered users. Looking forward to seeing you at an electric car station or event sometime!
